2) Plus version with Smart Fabrics.
3) Exclusive version with App and Smart Fabrics for Prone & Supine Therapy

Prone-Supine Positioning system, the world’s first patented system, available with special fabric or with Smart Textile to relieve hospital staff of Prone & Supine positioning of patients.

Our engineers designed and developed different models FlipProne XL (ICU Fighter). FlipProne XL registers each turning. The patient can be turned horizontally via the handwheel or turning motor. For the FlipProne XL version with Smart Textile we use Plastic Optical Fiber (POF) and built-in sensors, processors and a Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controller in the fabric. POF and Sensors are placed within the interior of the fabric along key body parts in need to monitor the posture of the patient. There are two different types of sensors within the fabric including accelerometer sensors that detect posture and load sensors that capture movement. FlipProne XL consists of two turning systems with multiple electrically operated systems on either side of the bed.

Various scientific studies have shown that patients with life-threatening inflammation in the lungs, such as in ARDS, have a better chance of survival by being ventilated in the prone position. The bloodstream in the lungs and therefore also the oxygen exchange improves in this position. This allows the alveoli and lung vessels on the dorsal side to open up again and to absorb oxygen more easily.

“Until now the (COVID-19) patients are manually turned several times a day. We know this is very complicated, time consuming and physically demanding and must be carried out by 5 to 6 healthcare professionals according to a strict protocol. In the current crisis situation, this action is a major dilemma for the IC departments,” says Mehrdad Omidvar.

By using FlipProne XL, patients can be turned within 5 minutes with the help of only 2 healthcare professionals. Deploying this system ensures that hospitals save time, fewer staff is necessary and less healthcare costs. In addition, it ensures that less physical effort is required from the hospital staff.
